Typefaces are something of an obsession at Copenhagen design agency e–Types. They’ve recently started selling fonts out of a shop around the corner from their office, the first bricks–and–mortar outlet for typefaces in the world, luring in customers with products like lettered coffee mugs as part of their campaign to raise public awareness about the power of the typeface. Monocle heads to Vesterbro to see how they’re faring.

Identity and typeface design by Bureau Bruneau for Lavafilm, a small & courageous film company based in Norway.

In the development of their identity, we explored the interaction between the classic and the contemporary. We have experimented with a solution, where the sum of the visual elements are the cornerstone of the identity, as opposed to the standard, where the logo stands out as the most important element.

Lava Sans Avec results from the merge of two of the mostly used fonts: Futura and Times New Roman.
